Hey I would just like to bring up this topic to see if anyone else has found out what I have, and to see if anyone knows more info on this subject so here it goes....I bought a couple axles from a 3/4 ton chevy (D44 and 14 bolt 4.10 gears) to swap in my 88 waggy, come to find out the spring width is the same on both axles! (give or take a 1/4 inch or so). I planned on doing a spring over in the front, just so happens that the chevy axle is already a spring over..so I bolted it in using the stock spring perches! What an easy swap...just thought i'd let ya'll know. know I just have to bolt in a dana 300 to my tf727 so I have a pssgr side drop case. does anyone know what years the wagoneers and chevys spring width are the same? I'm guessing that the chevy dana 60 should be the same spring width. correct?

Most all front axles are the same spring perch width.........within 1/4" or so. I have not come across the Chevy axles being the same for the rear though, I think you will find you will be moving those perches. Dodge axles are a direct fit though. Front Dana 60's from all except 90's ford will bolt in the front. I have a Chevy 60 in the front of mine, and had a Dodge 60 in a Cherokee, also have a Ford HP 44 in a J10.

ya..I did have to move the perches for the 14bolt, but that's easy.
Hey Crazy Jeepman do you know of any Dana 60's besides 90's fords that have a drivers side pumpkin? Nice find Matt, I have a 14 bolt but it came out of and IFS truck and I'm looking for a nice swap for the front axle. Also my 14 bolt is 3.73 gears.

Older Fords have Dana 60's F350's, and they bolt up fine.

Into what? Your J10?
No nothing that I know of. Unless it is out of a Chevy Van and I am not sure a Dana 60 was used in a Chevy van. A Van GM 14 Bolt will bolt into a J Truck without moving the perches, but it has a 70 1/4" WMS to WMS................ it works for me cause I needed the width, but for most situations it would not be a good swap

Pete, you forgot to mention that the Jeep J20 D60 is a direct bolt in for the J10. Not a thing needs to be modified.

My dodge dana 60's fit front and back and were SOA in the front. look good except for the steering but crazy_jeepman has the fix on that. the only problems I have had on the build has been transer case clearance i went fro driverside to passenger side drop on my 60's. fixed it with a body lift. if your going to run tires over 35" or have alot of HP a 60 is the only way to go. got both of my dana from a 1 ton dodge army truck.

matt what was your solution for the front steering setup? also my 14b fit right in(only the perches were an inch shorter or so) i just bolted one side leaf down and used a come along and pulled the other spring till it got in there good, jacked the whole rig up off the ground and bolted all the u bolts down tight. springs are curved in maybe 1/4 on each side. bounced on it with two of us and no rubbing spot so it should be all good

ya the reason I had to move the mounts is because I inboarded the springs so I could get some lift using the stock springs to match the front soa. the rear sits a little higher it seems but it looks ok.
my steering solution is temporary but seems to be working ok, I welded a 3/4" flange onto the stock chevy tie rod, than drilled a hole through it to connect the drag link.
