Thank you Lippy for emailing me the solution to my ongoing choke problem.
Cleaning the stove pipe and the choke housing as well as installing the new choke stat (NAPA part # 2-133) totally fixed my problem
The Jeep runs so well you'd think it has fuel injection!

For the record, my old choke stat looked fine when I took it out, it just didn't work well anymore.
