Stock NP229 I think.
Has any come up with a mod or an improvement for this vacuum motor?
I not going into 4x. I thinks it's a leak somewhere. but if there is an improvement I may try it.

I tried to clamp the dumb tcase into 4wd. But i was unable to do this. So i finally broke down and bought a vacuum motor and now i am going into 4wd and 2wd. It took me SEVERAL tries. Basically i am just sharing your pain. I have no ideas for you, but i would love to hear some... Perhaps a manual shifter that would have a spring so it could "slide" into the tcase OR you could just run a pump ot the shifter area so you can just manually pump the diaphram in and out.
I dunno... let me know!

Someone was asking about this on the Tech board. I'm not sure anyone has come up with a solution for the 229. There are a few for the BW1339 (including mine) that you might be able to adapt.

Well, in my mind I conjured up another stick attached to the linkage. Sort of a twin stick shifter thingy, but I have not actually tried to do it.

I thought of just using a spring loaded shaft attached to the shift rod normally attached to the vacuum motor, pulled by a cable with a little lever. I never tried it or really looked at it cause it works and there's other stuff to do, but I think I'll try it when all the more important things have been adressed.
