Well it has been awhile since I have posted a topic. This should probably be in OT or General but since I frequent this section most I'll post here. If you don't like me bending the rules, respectfully pound sand  .
With out further ado. This last month was the yearly hunting exscursion. I loaded up the jeep on the trail and loaded all the gear in the rig and headed off to my new home at 8000 feet. I arrived at camp to find the front axle on my trail decided it needed to crack and break at the factory weld. Fabulous, 4 hour from home and up in gods country. This is were hunting with you Dad pays off. I'm always amazed at how our parents tend to be so wise. Dad helps me pull the axle from under the trailer and says," we'll run this in to the nearest local place tomorrw morning after our morning hunt." So after our morning hunt in a snow storm from hell, we took the axle into town. We are directed to a local trailer supplier. After a twenty minute lecture on how badass this guy is at building trailers and trailer axles, we are told I can't do this because of insurance issues. I can understand that but ****it man twenty minutes of I'm the cats meow and the a no. ****, I need a fix here fella not a lecture on your coolness. He does manage to give us a lead on a old schooler that runs the local metal shop. So pops and I head do to this cats place. The guy is straight old school. He has been in business for 25 years doing work for the local mines. We catch them a lunch. My dad walks in a sees there at lunch, smartly he plays the, ooohhh your at lunch how about we come back in what 45 minutes? The guys are like, ya man that would be great. So off we head to the grocery store. My dad says, no sense pissing off the last guys who can fix your axle. That is wisdom, alot of us younger guys would have acted like little a-holes and at that point I was feeling like my problem was more important than lunch. So back we go, the owner Gary comes out looks at the axle and tells us yes I can weld it back together but He can not garuntee the caster and tow will be the same as before. I tell him that is fine, I just need to make it back home. He says great for $45 cash he will get it back together. So we leave it there fro a few days and head back off hunting.
The hunting sucked *** this year. Apperently a wolf pack decided it liked our area and moved in. The have absolutly altered the wild lifes movement in the area. One of the days, right a sunrise, I found myself 75 yards from a pack of 8 wolves. I was up in the high country 9000 feet and sneaking through some thick down fall. I know those sun of *****es knew I was there and I just watched them. I was just daring them to twitch wrong. I have no problem with them in the habitat but I do not trust them at all. I by themselves is managable but a pack can tend to get ballsy real quick. Luckly the moved on and so did I. We just never seemed to run into the herds in the right areas and because of that we came up empty this year.
I did manage to get the axle fixed and back under the trailer. I limped home but the axle is F'ed and I'm looking to put new ones under the trailer. I did get to wheel the jeep around in the snow and found some mud when the days warmed up. The Irocs and beadlock combo is unreal in the snow. The carb ran like **** needs to be tuned again. I'm calling it quits with carbs and am going to switch to FI. I'm looking at rebuilding the kinpins this winter on the Dana 60 and getting the Hydor assit installed.
That is what I have been up too. Sorry for the mega post but maybe you got a chuckle or two. Peace.:fsj:
