Ok, so I am working on a plan for the winter, wanting to link the 85 front and rear.
Would like to just do 1-links and coils front and rear using 1.5 inch heims (aurora - in stock thru MSC). However, I really don't think I have enough real estate available to go that way, ESPECIALLY if I want to be able to re-configure the trans / t-case / doubler situation at a later date.. (Commit to a big crossmember behind the stock T-case location and then have to cut it all out - well, I would rather not…)
My question is this- Anyone out there with a Linked FSJ ever use the stock 'track bar' mounting point on the frame for your panhard? If I do go with one-links, that will be the best way I can see to do it… though I am open to suggestions and criticism… heck somedays even outright ridicule…
I imagine the front will be similar to some of the XJ long-arm systems out there… and maybe the rear will be too.. I dunno.. And maybe triangulated like a drag car ladder bar setup (diagonally between the lowers, rather than with a panhard). The goals are slightly longer WB with better approach and departure without a ton of lift. Plus keeping the axles from walking back and forth (especially if you bend a leaf) thus reducing the amount of 'slip' needed in the driveshafts, and protecting the trans / t-case from ever having the shafts bottom out and break stuff.
All opinions desired and welcome.
Peace
Dave
