help me out here. i currently have bj's 6" lift with my fenderflares cut off and its just not quite enough height for my 39.5's. now im wanting to beef it up to 42's while im throwin a 60 under the front so im gonna sell my 6" springs and get what for the front and rear??
i would guess that i would need 3-4 inches more lift in the front to accomodate the 42's that sit 1.25 inches taller on the top of the tire than the 39.5's that being a total of 9-10 inches. is that too tall?
OC uses 4" skyjacker springs with a leaf out and it works so that must be what i would need to do if not something similar right? if a SOA gives you 6" with stock springs then 4" leaves "should" give you about 10 inches of lift. is this correct?
on the back the shackle flip i think can be done with 2" lift springs and im thinking about moving the springs to under the frame rails like on a CJ if not then the TT fabworks kit should get me all i need. i think?
does this sound about right for 42's? im willing to cut more if i have to in order to keep my COG low. a bodylift could be an option but id rather do iit all in the suspension or cutting the body.

A SOA on a D60 gives you 8" up front (thicker axle tube). Even 3" lift-springs would be sufficient, especially if you trim the fenders.
In the rear, the shackle-inversion gives you about 8" as well, depending how long a rear shackle you use.

8 inches plus 4" lift springs = perfect for 42's and that means an adda leaf will work in the rear with the shackle flip ?

The rear you can adjust to a point (if you go with Tads kit), but not 4" worth of adjustment. You will most likely need at least 2.5" lift springs in back.
If you go under the frame, then I think you will be just about right with stock springs.

I think 6" is going to set you up too high. When we sprung mine over it actually sat higher than Andrew's at the time and he had 38.5" Claws and I was running 33" Wide Climbers.

Ahh the wide climbers. Now those were tires!

Don't you even talk smack! They might as well had "Visine Edition" next to the "Wide Climber" lettering. You know those were an instant moisturizer. The ladies couldn't get enough! :drivin:

my bj's 6" springs are gonna be for sale as soon as i pull em off so i can get the 4" springs for the front and the add a leaf with the springs under the frame.

Wil the add-a-leaf in the back hurt flex at all? I'm not a big fan of them. I had the short versions on my Scout until I went with a 4" Skyjacker kit. Didn't realize how much the Scout road like a brick until I swapped in the Skyjacker kit. What a difference!
I'm doing the TT SOA/shackle kit on my 82 Waggy. It already has slightly taller then stock spring packs in it as it has 31"s on it right now. I have some 33"s I'm putting on once I do the SOA/shackle. I wanted to go to 35"s eventually, but may go to 37"s with either a D60/D60 or a D60/FF14 combo. If I do this, I'll probably add a couple more inches of lift somehow (no body lifts for me) as I'm trying not to have to trim the fenders and quarters.

an add a leaf on wore out springs works wonderfully i think. i ran thatsetup for awhile and was pleased with it. def flexed more in the back than my 6" lift springs.

I found reversing the shackle with lowering the front mount will give you better spring action. It's downside is in heavy breaking on the steet. The front will dive more. The reversal will give you 3 - 4" of lift. The flatter the spring you use, the better the action. 3" springs, I have Rough Country, are just right for lift and flexing, much like the Sky Jacker units. The shackle in the back will give you much better feel and ride on the rough stuff also.
