I have the normal 2"x8" cylinder. I figure I have to pull the shaft out to the middle, which would be 4". Then mark a spot on my diff and a sopt on my tie rod, for brackets. Then weld and install. This would give me 4" of stroke for the left turn and 4" to the right. Does that sound about right? Also, on the side of my cylinder is an allen headed plug bolt. Is this for bleeding maybe? Thanks, Dennis

I would have spotwelded the brackets at first, then cycled it to see any problems before final welding.
Don't ask me why I do this :))

But as far as the basic setup, that is how to set the stroke, right?

I think rock44 has this setup and may be able to clear up for you.
There are a ton of sites out there on google that have home brewed setups or kits useing the same 8" ram. I'd give one of them a call.
When it's all done, a write-up of the steps and odd things you run into would be great to see.
