Weld up a trak lock diff?

I have heard of people welding up the limited slip in a dana 44 but wanted to possibly get some advice or insight on the subject. Mainly i just want to know if it can be easily done. I'm going to Hollister next weekend and want the extra traction before i go. I'd like a full carrier locker of course, but money is an issue.

if its the rear get a spool if its the front hold out for the cash. the more i run welded diffs and the more i break , the more i lean towards detroits

This is simply temporary traction. I honestly plan on installing a full carrier spool one of these days but, i just want to this just because it is the best bang for my current buck and plus, i don't really plan on layin on the stupid pedal when i'm at Hollister. But have you (or anyone) welded the trak lock?
