Hello All!
I´m new here and want to hear your opinions on this project I´m
working on.
A friend wanted me to put his Cherokee into spin again after been sitting
since 1993 w/o engine & trans, and ofcourse I said I´ll fix it,,,

I bought a TH350/NP203 with driveshaft stumps
http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/9893/th350okt9anq6.jpg
Now I´ve ordered a Chevy 350 TBI from a Chevy Van 1989
When it arrives I´ll post a picture.
Comments?

Welcome! Looks like a very cool project.
Why not a diesel?

Thanks.
Diesel was the original idea 1993, that´s why it´s empty.
Now he wants V8 performance and a gas V8 is cheaper to buy
and here in Sweden there is not so big a difference diesel/gas mileage.

didn't i see this rig on chevytalk a while back? :)
if you are keeping it TBI (good idea, thats what i'm doing) you might find the wire harness a bit short because it's from a van.
i'm curiously waiting to see your results, my swap is another month or two away and i've yet to figure out how to integrate the two fuse blocks... and i hate wiring!
i have already pieced together a fuel system if you need help with part numbers.

I haven't had the time to work on the Cherokee as I hoped, but here are
some recent pics:

I've welded the rusted fenders and began to install the driveline.
A 2 post lift is good to have!
Just remembered to ask: What are the pins in the backdoor hinges for?
Why not a diesel?
Yeah I'm with Mikel on this. Since it's engine less now anyway and AMC stuff prolly isn't dripping off the parts houses shelves over there AND you folks have so many more dsl swap options than us US folks have...I'd go oil burner in a heart beat!
Gawd I love the smell of dsl in the morning. :)
Welcome to the FSJ madness and keep us up to date on your project. You've got the hard part done...it has a clean and mostly rust free body!

Well, diesel is for old dudes, and both me and the owner of the Jeep is
on the younger side of fifty, hehe.

Now it is time for the driveshafts.
Cleaned and took out the joints and measured the
driveshafts and saw that the smallest one in the
picture is to the front and needs to be lengthen 30mm
maybe with material from the mid long shaft.
The longest one is going to the rear and needs to be
lengthen 55mm, have no material at home for that one.
I'm gonna show them to friend at work so he can
decide the best way to lengthen them.
There are some lathes at work, nudge, nudge.
I bought these shafts of an ad, and the seller didn't
know exactly what cars they came from.
I have the other parts, and will change the joints
and maybe paint them before installation.
I had to take a picture to show off my 2 post lift.

Above two pics of the exhaust system that I'm trying to put together.
Ther will be a silencer on each side and outlet in front of the rear wheels.
