thermal or non-thermal ?

what's the defference between the thermal and non-thermal fans and which is better? i have the buick 350 and 400 th if that matters.

I run the thermal one. Had bought the non-thermal but I didn't like it. It didn't cool as well as the thermal one. As for the difference I'm not sure. I think that the thermal one kicks in when something inside gets a certain temperature.

The way it was put to me by my good old fashoned counter guy is that if you run a shroud run a thermal type. If you don,t run a shroud the run a non-thermal. I run a non-thermal clutch and do not have a heating problem unless I am low on coolant(seepy rad and no overflow reservoir).
