The diaphram in the fuel pump can sometimes break and allow some gas into the oil, or so I've been told.
You may check to make sure there is gas in the oil. I changed my oil a while back and freaked out that there was gas in it ( or so I thought). Turned out I was just being paranoid.

prolly a blown gas pump diaphram. ez and cheap to replace the mech. fuel pump. Or you can go electric pump, most folks who switch are happy with them, me included.
if its not that then a carb rebuild may be in your future.
good luck,

Couldn't that also be caused from running too rich?

a weak coil will cause a way overich condition that will gas up oil. so will a low float level in the carb or a stuck choke. but the most common is a leak in the fuel pump diaphragm
