I have a 1985 Dodge pick up just beging for the end so it runs with a central vacume disconect on the front, how hard is it to swap out to a one peic axle shaft insted fo the two peic axle with vacume controle. It will find its way under my 1972 wagoneer so the drive flanges will need to go for sume locking hubs wats the proses to that conversion as well.
Hope fully I'll end up :drivin: :fsj: and not :banghead:
Thanks!

not hard to swap. make a cover for the disconnect. (or dont, just leave the cover that it had)

Now... I have had a dodge 44 under the front of a waggy frame before... it took a lot of grunting and groaning to do. mostly because the dodge spring center pin width is (about) 33 inches. while the waggy is 31.5 (or so) like a chevy.

You could take the 'outer' half of your spring / shackle brackets off, add material to space the springs out to the dodge width on the inside, and then put the outers back on, spaced out by the same amount. or, you could find a chevy 44 (or - GASP) a chevy 10 bolt. that way you get the same bolt pattern as the wag, the same caliper mount as the wag, no center disconnect, and the same spring spacing. Not that the dodge 44 is a bad axle, just to make sure you have the info up front.

I put a pair of '77 wag dana 44's under my '73 wag, and it was ~1" wider pad spacing than the stock D30 in front.

Like Dave said, you WILL need to strongarm it under there due to the spacing difference.
Steering is a little diff. too pitman arm length/size?

I have a good '79 wag front axle if you're interested in an easier swap??
I'm in Oceanside...
You can change to 5-lug pattern using chevy spindles to match the current bolt pattern.
I also have brake parts for the front disc conversion;
Power booster, prop. valve, brake pedal hanger.

I put a set from a 86 dodge to spring over axel my 74 j-10 and it just took a swift kick on the spring to make it line up but i only have two leaves up front and since my rig is trailered and never driven on the pavement I took the vacume control off did something I can't remember what and fixed it so it would always engage the axel and bolted it back on. Then I kept the dodge tie rod on and did the X-over steering with a new drag link. This info might help maybe
