When I accelerate hard or under load such as towing I hear a rapid succession of thumps or raps. Would this be the U-joints or QT Xfer case chain. TIA

Usualy indicates a loose Q-Trac Chain. Check the slack in the chain. U-Joints you would generally get a vibration.
I had that problem and it ended up being a broken motor mount. Poked a hole in oil filter, cracked exhaust manifold (I blame it on that anyways) and I think it f...ed up my front driveshaft too.
well I guess my thumping wasn't rapid, but it was loud

My money is on tcase chain jump. This is not a good thing :(
Drain the juice and measure the chain deflection through the inspection whole. Factory specs are max 1/2" flex. You can get away with a bit more but lots more and you'll destroy the tcase eventually especially if you keep doing "When I accelerate hard" and "towing". Don't do that... smile.gif

Thanks! I have been takin it easy on it, but sometimes getting into traffic it will happen. I have a new case to swap out, just wanted to make sure it was what I thought it was.
