Irondust!

I'm back after a two year hiatus. I couldn't remember my old log-in password so I had to add and exclamation point to my old username.
Left when I sold my 86 Wag to a friend of Glenntx. Swore I wouldn't buy another FSJ unless I found a sweet Chero Chief or Honcho Sportside....
Well as luck would have it. I found a Honcho Shortbed Sportside. Pretty much all original. Needs a bit of work to get it back on the road. It has a 258 with a 4 speed behind it. The body has no rust to speak of. All glass is good. Has factory rollbar and grille guard. The driverside rear fender is trash, but this is the only thing I think I will have a hard time finding.
Long story short I had been admiring this truck for years and never had the chance to speak with the guy. As he was always on the highway or just leaving when I saw him at a convenience store or such.
Last Saturday I was pulling in to a convenience store and there it is. I go in all the while watching to see who the owner is. After a few minutes he shows and I go out to talk to him. I tell him how much I like his truck and and if he was ever to sell it that I would be interested. He looks at me and says, " make me and offer." I told him at the time I didn't have alot of money to spend and asked why was he so ready to sell it.....
Apperantly five minutes before I got there the fire engines had left. His wiring harness had caught on fire. Luckily the convenience store he was at was right across from the firestation. They got the call and ran across the street and exstiguished it with two minutes.
So he is totally frustrated(as anyone would be) and done with his jeep. His dad shows and he tells him I want to buy it. His dad says, "we could part this thang for at least six bills." I agree. Then I ask how they are getting this thang back to there house. The dad says he is just going to bump it down the street. I look at his truck and it's one of the new fords with a plastic bumper. I ask if him if he's sure he want to do a grand of damage to his truck to push a jeep five blocks to their house. I offer to push it for them as I have a dodge 1ton with a huge bumper. I push it for them. I get to the house and get out to look a few more things over. I tell them I'm still interest as I need a winter project to keep me out of trouble. the dad walks over and says it yours and that I could have it for three bills.
Well I bought it.
From what I can see it is going to need a new valve cover and of course pieces of the wiring harness. I'll most likely replace the whole harness, pull the engine apart to make sure it's clean and doesn't have all the power from the exstinguishers down in it.
...Oh year I got a call today and he said he forgot to tell me he had the stock camper and he would drop it off later this week.
Not bad for three bills eh?
Is Porkchop, Glenntx, Gwamps, Janie, and Tadsal still around. I hope so they were a wealth of information.
It's good to be back.
