The Black Box Planetary gearbox is a gear reduction unit that fits between your existing transmission and transfer case. The Black Box can be shifted between 1:1 high range for highway duty, and a deep 2.72:1 gear reduction when in low range. The Black Box is designed for the 4x4 enthusiast who is seeking significantly more slow speed control than currently available.

I love these guys! But at $1,600 I'll be sticking to trying to scrounge up the $700 doubler adaptor for my 203/205.

i'd say that's comparable to the klune. i think they're $1700. I agree with Elliot though. I could care less about weight savings at this point.

hmmm. Not that I care that this is a Klune in different clothing but I have seen the tailshafts of klunes snap off very easily and that reduction really kills a T-case fast. Its a cool idea but not for me

This is basically a 241 transfer case repackaged for greater usability. The price holds up pretty good when compared to LoMaxs, Klunes, and other custom gear boxes.

If that's not a klune knockoff I don't know what is.
Jeepsr4ever, what was the situation where you've seen Klune's break? I got mine with a 32 spline tailshaft going into the Atlas and it's beefy as hell. I've really beat on my setup so far and it's held up great. I'd be willing to bet the break was from a 23 spline or something. Also, when have you seen the reduction kill a t-case? Was it the 2.7 or the 4.0?

The smaller end of that tailshaft is the 32 spline end

it's a blatent knock off but i'm glad they are doing it. prices are getting rediculous for this stuff. i'm sure that's why a lot of other options are popping up (ie - doublers). they're not as cheap either but at half the price they're definitely in my long term budget.
maybe in 20 years i can afford some of this stuff if there are enough knock offs on the market.

Ditto!
I am making a budget right now for a build and I was looking at the STAK 3 speed case and it's crazy.

I am soooooooo cheap that this is killing me. I already have a 205 in this thing and maybe I can save some dough with something like this.

i find that when making a budget take half of what it is and add that to it for unexpected expenses. those nickel and dime things can add up quick.
