How do you measure overall lift of your jeep? Owners manual have some numbers. Overall height 66.7", step height front 19.9" rear 20.8" (4-door model). Does step height mean from ground to door? Or is there some better way to measure it?

Step hight is the hight of the door seal ont he inside.
The top of my jeep since the lift is 72" I think.

I think the best way to measure lift is to measure from the centerline of the hub/wheel to the fender lip. That way the tire size doesnt change what the lift height is. But if you trim your fenders, you really cant use this method...

Yes
But what is stock measurement from hub to fender??
I measured my car, and got step height 20-21" and front hub (center) to fender 18.8".
Hmm, been trying to figure that one out for a while, so what would be the stock center of hub to fender lip measurment?
Anyone figure this out?
I come out at 19" from center of the hub to the fender lip.

Hi "Tadsal"
Do you have some lift on your car and if... what kind of?

When I measure from center of the hug to the fender lip I get 19" front, and 17.8" rear. The rear fender opening is smaller, which is why its a smaller number, but the rear actually sits higher thent he front on my rig.

Same here, so would that be an actual 4" lift or 5"?

OK
I have 18½ front and 16" rear. I have some bodylift added 1"-2". I have tried to figure out what happens, if I put 4"-lift springs under my car. I`m not sure which kind of spring I have right now. It could be waste of money, if I get same result as now. I´m little confused...

Personally, I'd use the step height as a starting point. Yours doesn't look lifted to me, but I might be wrong. Whatever you decide to use, that's what you need to use from now on, so that you have a consistant reference.

Do you have some lift on your car and if... what kind of?Yes - not a packaged deal - just started scabbing it together about a year ago.
Front: Rearched springs with new secondary mainspring under the original - this secondary main spring and the rearching had so much arch when I put them on I couldn't get the shackels on without them flipping backwards. Let it sit for about 2 weeks with weight on it and then added longer Ford F150 shackels and it went right into place.
Rear: Chevy truck springs manufactured by Triangle Springs and Chevy truck shackels flipped up to the original position with a 2" block (homemade steel). I had tried flipping the shackel down as Stuka has done but with the Chevy spring/shackel combo the rear sat way too high and the pinion angle was all wrong (I'm going to flip it down and go back to the jeep shackle someday when I remember where I put them).
Shocks: Rancho 5126's all around.
Tires: 33x12.5.15 Dunlop Radial Rover AT's (a little noisy on the street)
Now this setup rides very stiff, but that suites me fine as I haul around a decent amount of weight. I guestimate that this is about 4" of lift but can only base that on other members vehicle heights running 33's. Sits maybe a little more that 72" to the roof line in front and slightly higher in the rear.

I know my front springs are 4" lift springs. I actually have about 5.5" of lift in the back

Hi
Here this summer picture with 16" wheels and
tires (before I put 15" X 31" under). Front and rear hubs are same level as added sidebar. In my eyes it seems little higher than another cars (original) what I`ve seen.

Just Went from stock to 4" Rusty spring lift.
With 235 75R15 tires the center of the hub was 13 1/4" off of the ground.
Here are the fender heights, from the ground, Before /after lift/ and after 31" tires (which only measure about 29" inches from top/bottom when installed). I measure the fender right above the axle.
Passenger Front 29 1/2 - 33 1/4 - 34 1/4
Passenger Rear 27" - 31" - 32"
Driver Front 28 15/16" - 33 1/2" - 34 1/2"
Driver Rear 27" - 31" - 32"
This was on a stock 81 Wag with 4" rusty lift added. As you can see, I got exacty 4" from the lift.
I measured the bottom of my factory trailer hitch. 12 1/4 inches stock, 16 inches with the lift kit and 17" with the tires.
I measured the Rocker molding at tbe 'B' piller (between the two doors). It was 13" stock, 17 1/4" with the lift and 19" with the tires. I might have messed up on that last measurement. I will go check again.
The Frame at the same location was 10 5/8" without the lift. I never remeasured it.
Hope this helps..

Thanks alot,
I measured from the ground to the fenderlip and got 29" rear and 32" front. I have 255 x 75 x 15 tires, should be same as 31"?
It seems that little lift I have comes from bodylift....

I think it is easier to measure from the lip of the fender to the bottom of the WHEEL. It is easier than getting the center of the hub.

its not that hard to measure with the tape to the center of the hub, especially up front where it sticks way out...

Why don't you measure from the middle of the spring pack to a point on the frame? To me this is what you want to measure not hub to lip of fender. Some people have cut there fenders to add clearance. Just my .02
