Hi guys
I guess I decided to go wimpy and skip the soa this time. Everyone seems really happy with the BJ's 4" lift.
I do not want to do the body lift and would rather trim my fenders.. I thought about the bushwacker flares but I think that is more than I need.
So... does anyone have 33x10.5s with the 4" and did you have to trim?
does anyone have the 33x12.5s and the 4" that can send me a picture of how much you trimed and what backspace wheels you used?
Thanks so much!
Tony

they're 32x11.5 though. 33's shouldn't need a whole lot of trimming with the 4" lift. Lift it, put on the tires and trim where it rubs. I'll be running 35's soon, and I've verified they wont rub with the amount of trimming I did.:D

I would go ahead and go with the 6". I love mine, its a little stiff at first but it softens up quick if you wheel it!!

So it seems I can do a 4" lift, fender trimming, 33x10.5s on stock 87' mags and be fine. Unfortuanatly it does not seems like anyone is running this setup that I have found so far.
So that makes me lean towards 33x12.5s which I hear will rub the rear springs if I run the factory 7" rim.
I have searched the archives for the proper backspacing for a 33x12.5 on a N/T late model Grand Wagoneer. Oh my gosh... there are pages and pages of links with no standard answer. Some say 3 5/8" some say 3.5" and some suggest going to 3" to get even more clearance.
So two questions before I go spend the big green
1) ANYONE running 33x10.5 MTs on a late model N/T wagoneer? and do you like this setup
2) If I go 33x12.5 on a late model N/T Grand and purchase a 8" wheel what backspacing should I get to clear the springs and have a decent turning radius in the front?
Sorry to keep posting guys.... don't want to spend hundreds of $$ on something that will not work.
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL and I apologize for the newbe questions!

1975 Cherokee NT (same as your wag for all intents and purposes), 4" lift in front, 5" lift in back, 1.25" of fender trimming, 15x8 wheels with 3 5/8" back spacing, 33x12.50 Cooper STT's. The cleared the fenders fine, the rear would rub on the inner fender well when really flexed, but this doesnt hurt anything. The front would rub the leaf springs until I adjusted the turn stops.

This is "Manhatten" in prime form. That is one sweet Jeep.
IIRC he ran a 33x10.50x15 BFG m/t with 4" of lift.

My old "Valdez"...
4" Rusty's lift, 34x10.50x15, 8" wheel w/ 3 3/4" of bs. Needed some substantial trimming to not rub when flexed.

That's not substantial, you still had rear doors :D
Heck, you even had rocker panels  like mine.
Love the sig line by the way.

That is until that fateful day at Tellico last winter. We had to do some more trimming...with a rock. The doors never worked the same afterwards.
that sig line makes me chuckle every time I read it :D

5" lift in front (4" springs and 1" shackle)
4" lift in back (2" AAL and 2" block)
33x12.5x15 all around on 8x15 white spokes with 3 3/4" backspacing
1.5" fender trim all around rear fenders - needs a bit more cut off at the rocker panel
front fenders trimmed slightly at first and then whacked later to fit bumper

Twiggy-esque 9.5x33s & +-4" spring lift. Minor rub at full flex, fixed by "clearancing" the rear fenders trailing edge with a 2" aspen log.

If the stock 7" wheels have 3 5/8" backspacing wouldn't 3.75" put the wheels closer to the springs? I am probably not taking into consideration the fact that the new wheels are 8" and don't understand the math.
I would have assumed that I would want a 3 1/4" or 3" backspacing to get the tires out from the springs.
I guess I don't understand backspacing after all :(

Yeah, that seems to be right to me.
My '90 GW is running the BJ's 4" springs all around with Ford Ranger rear shackles in the front (to give about .75" lift). I am running 33x12.5x15" BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires on 15x8" Centerline rims with 3 5/8" backspacing.
I trimmed the front fenders up to the first contour-line and just hammered back the front edges of the rear wheelwells and rockerpanels. I will probably trim more because the tire looks stuffed in there, but they do not rub on the outside. I do get some rubbing on the inside of the rear wells when flexing out over rocks and stuff, but it won't hurt anything.
If I could do it over again, I may have gotten some 33x10.50" tires on the 8" rims. OR, depending on how much road and trail useage, go with SuperSwamper 32x10.50" TSL Radials. They are only about .25" shorter than the BFGs.
This is pre-shackle 4" lift and 33's:
