It's a 1984 wagoneer. I got a killer deal on it. It will be the family wheeler. I plan on doing a mild lift with some 31's or 32's. It's already got some worn out 31" BFG AT's on it. Power windows & locks. No motor, 727 auto and I think a 229 t-case. Dana 44 front and AMC 20 rear with 3.31 gears, power brakes, leather/cloth interior, rear defrost, had AC.

Things I need to reassmble to get the jeep driving again:
- Steering column & steering shaft
- 304 motor will be going in it unless I find a deal on a 360
- Steering box (need to get one)
- need side mirrors
- need front bumper

Cool man. I paid 175ducks for it. But Like I said it didn't come with a motor or steering gear box.

I'll have to check out that fsj junk yard! Do you know where it is?

Nice find. All nice and clean, it's the opposite of my dented black Wagoneer. lol  Got the same interior color as mine too. Should be a nice project. Should have a 229, does it have the tow package or just the 3.31 gears?

Really nice find. That's quite a deal, even without a motor! The straight body and nice interior is a score.

Thanks man. It does have a hitch on the back. The guy I bought it from said it had the 3.31 gears. Is there a way to tell for sure?

The factory tranny cooler on the front behind the grille would indicate it has the trailer towing package which is 3.31 gears when standard gears are 2.73. There are ID tags on the differential covers held down by 2 of the bolts. The gear ratio is stamped on the tag. If the tags are gone or rusted away, then the only way to really know is pop off the covers and count teeth... Sample below is a D30, but D44 is similar...

Cool, it's got the tranny cooler and the tow hitch! There is a small one in the front and then a bigger one behind it and then the radiator but it is not installed. So one is for the AC and the other for the transmission. Which one is for the trans? The bigger one?

I put on some of the loose parts after work yesterday.

- drivers door panel and all of the brackets and handles, arm rests, switch covers (went to vato zone and got an interior door handle for a chevrolet truck and fit just fine)

- installed the grille, it was just sitting on the front end

- aligned the hood and attatched the hood release cable

- Scraped and primered some rust on the bottom of the drivers door

I might go to DH Griffin(local scrap yard) today at lunch to get some metal for my front bumper.

Just waiting on a flex plate to mount up the motor to the trans and need to get some new motor mounts.

I'm itching to get the motor in!

The one in the very front is the tranny cooler. It is made by Modine. I found one to put on my first 88 that was originally 2.73 gears. My other 88 has a factory trailer towing option with the tranny cooler, class III hitch & 3.31 gears.

Thanks for the info! One of the cooler rows fell off last night! I guess it was rotted out or just sitting on there.

Man, that was quick. The 304 is a good motor, and should do ya just fine. It might be weak if you plan to do much towing, but, for day to day driving, it should serve you well. The waggy looks great, especially for $175.beer... hahhah..

Keep us posted on that progress. You got more than your monies worth, in just the interior alone.
