I just purchased an 82 GW with tired looking wheels. Can anyone tell me if any 6 lug wheels for other makes are compatible?

I've got the lug pattern, but what do I need to know about offset, etc. to guarantee fit?

No major suspension mods anticipated.

I look forward to learning from you guys.

Welcome aboard!

The previous owner of my wagoneer had put isuzu or mitsubishi wheels on. They were 15x6 inch wheels. They were fine until I replaced the brake pads up front. With the new pads the calipers were brought farther away from the rotors. Enough so that the calipers rubbed the wheels.

I found a set of factory aluminum five slots to replace them. Just a heads up for you if you think about the isuzu or mitsu wheels.

chevy 1/2 ton wheels also fit toyotas trucks, so it might also be possible a toyota rim will fit...
If I'm remembering right there might might be a issue with it though...don't remember what it was exactly...I know the patterns are the same though...

Sockerdad....howdy.. My after market 6 lug on 5.5" 15"x8"/3.75" back space wheels were off a '76 Blazer. I mounted BFG 10.5"x31" ATs. I have put these wheels on, a '76 Datsan, A '95 Hard-body 4x4, and a '99 Frontier 4x4 and they work great. But none of those wheels would work on the FSJ do to 4.5" to 5" back-spacing. A year ago I custom ordered a white wagon wheel(their not even stocked at the MFG) 15x7/3.5 bs from pep boys ;) 'bout $40.oo.. shurly some other ifsj'er has some for grabs... ..ds

PSSST - do not be afraid to tell us where you are from and what kind of truck you drive! We are the NICE people on the net! We drive FSJs too and are a little off-center but in general we care about one another. WELCOME!!! :D

Thanks for the welcome and the info. I'd looked at two or three other boards but decided to post here because the knowledge really did seem to be superior. I've already learned a ton from reading various posts.

There's nothing to hide about my GW. I paid a few hundred for a very solid body, faded paint, an above average interrior (for the year), and a rod that's about to go. I'm saving $$$ for a crank kit. I'll more likely restore instead of modify. It may not be hot when I am done, but it will be a lot of fun. My wife made fun at first, but now she thinks she wants me to sell the Honda & let her drive the GW!

About the wheels, let me be real basic with a follow up question. The back spacing on recent Suburbans/Tahoes is correct for my GW? And, Don S, I take it I am looking for the 4.5 - 5" backspacing number in order to make sure it fits?

I've seen some good looking wheels on ebay for a reasonable price & I don't want to make a mistake.

Sockerdad...Hi again...Wheel choice also depends on tire size. For street I like BFG AT 30"x9.5"x15" on 7" wide wheel. Use a back-spacing of 3.5". If you use 4.5 back-spacing the tires will be to far "inboard" and rub the inter fender-wells....  I think some are interested in what town you live near....Have a gud'un.. ;) .......ds
