I'm painting my 83 Jten in the winter and here is what i'm doing..
If you take and draw a line on the bottom body line (bed seam) and include the fender flares. I'm sparying that with the rhino liner spray in bed liner stuff. Jeep with be white with the black spray on the bottom. bumpers black. Silver razor grill. I saw a truck for sale on ebay that was red and black and it looked bad A%^.
I see you got a BJ's 6" what size tires are those??

I'd do a nice rollbar in the bed and then paint the whole truck triple black.

First you need to get a Brow. a J-truck just dosent look the same with out one.:D
Get some rocker pannel protection. then throw some 9" Hella Lights on that sweet bumper.
Nice looking truck I wish mine was in that good of shape right now.

Looks good as is. Maybe get some nerf bars, if you like that sort of thing. A roll bar INSIDE the CAB would be a good idea. Sure, the bed mounted bars look "cool", but they DO NOT protect your noggin like an in-cab cage will.

Paint it gun metal grey. Call it done and give me the Muscle Grille! I'm serious.<img>
or do a two tone white and navy blue. blue bottom white mid, blue hood, white top...
gun metal grey and burnt orange look good together as well.

I agree about the brow. How tough is it to attach a brow to an 82 j truck? I thinking about painting mine this winter so it would be a good time to do it.

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy thats what Im doin! I am going to go 1/4 above the bed seam though, and painting it white. Goin chrome with the bumpers. I saw a yellow truck on ebay with that setup, kicked butt annnnnnnnd no worrying about rock chips in my new paint!

I like lighter colors that make it look larger. largeness is a better intimidation factor to my way of thinking. Linked below is a page with some J-truck ideas you might think about.

Hope to see you post more as you go along. Page 2 is more relavant to paint stuff.
PS: I agree about the 9-inch lights. Bigger is better and biggest is best! I wished I'd gone with "biggest" for the front driving lights.

I dunno about that... I have a friend with a toyota that went through a nasty on-concrete roll, and the bed bar held up just fine [rest of the body did take a beating though!]. The bar did its job though-- saved the driver/passenger.
IMHO, It is much easier to properly triangulate a bed bar than a in cab cage. I have seen more than one pic of a folded in cab cage.
Any cage/bar is better than none though, I just always like to play devil's advocate when a blanket statement is made.

I think the J10 needs bigger meats to fill in the wheel wells... Looks great though! Albeit a little naked without the brow!

He said 31 10.50's on the tires.
Allen78j20 i am doing the bumpers on mine black. I've got a custom steel bumper on the rear that can't be chromed or polished.
I'm also using a single stage paint for ease of use. I mix 50/50 clear and single stage for the last coat. That gives a nice deep finished that can be buffed if need and helps the paint last.
