Any ideas on tie rod ends to use for custom steering?? I will be using some thick 1 1/4" dom tubing.. The drag link will connect to a high steer arm..The tie rod will be connected in the stock position for now..It would be nice to find some ends that were a little heavier duty than stock but yet still fit the stock taper..Also I think I'll need a right thread and a left thread for the adjustment purposes..Any input would be appreciated..This is on a 85 wag..Thanks..

TRW part #s are es2010R &es2010L....
These are off of 1 ton dodges right and left threads, same taper as stock, 7/8"x18 threads...
I'm planning on doing the same thing and since I'm in the parts business I have all the neat catalogs with dimensions and stuff...

Yeah RB, they do, but the length(height from base of cone to top of cone)is a lot longer on gms,and on gms one side or the other is set up for the steering stabilize(ie, a place to break),The dodge is the only one I found where the dimensions are closest and they are mirrored(identical left and right 'scept for thread direction)...

If you want to save some cash do what i did and get some 3/4" hem joints (male or female is up to you) and drill out your knuckles with a 3/4" drill bit, get some grade 8 3/4" bolts, you will have to find some seemless tubing at least 1/8" thick, cut to length, if your useing male joints you will have to weld some 3/4 fine thread bosses or if you use female joints you will have to weld in 3/4" fine thread studs and there you go! Summit has these joints for about 15 bucks a peice with shipping so with the cost of a new tie rod end at 75 bucks a pop thats a lot of lewt!

If you do use heims though, they should either be mounted double shear, or with a safety washer on them.
