I didn't have a good rear recovery attachment point on the buggy other than wrapping a tow strap around a tube (gay) so I whipped one out this weekend. I found some 3/4" stock laying around and massaged it into a nice little d-ring mount. Thought you guys might like to see it.

come on...that buggy doesn't get stuck....
I was looking at the pics on your website of the Taco rolling. I love the action shots with people diving for safety while the truck wrecks its Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley. Sucks for the guy that owns that thing. It was pretty f#ck#d. was he ok?

It's not for me ;)
As far as the rollover, I wasn't there but apparently the guy was totally fine. He should have bought a lottery ticket that day. He didn't belong on that trail.

I hope you don't do mud bogs. I don't want to be the one attaching the tow strap! <g>
Looks nice.

Effectively you would be splitting the 100% dead load across 4-heims... glancing at 1/2" heims (small I know) on McMaster Carr the static radial load capacity is 15,000lb per heim... so your 4-link heims would be capable of roughly 60,000lb or 30 tons of pull.
You also have to consider that it is rolling weight... not really "DEAD" weight.

and a 1.25" rod end has a 107,182lbs load rating.
looks good andrew. does the 3/4" plate go through the truss?

The beauty of having the recovery point on the axle is that it takes the suspension out of the equation. You can get much better and stronger pulls when your suspension doesn't compress and take all the momentum away.
DB, it doesn't go though. I did chamfur the edges and cranked the heat and wire up on the Millermatic 210. I also did a double pass on both sides even though it didn't appear to be needed.

Drug backwards? I'll be the one doing the draggin ;)

ok i see it now. i dont know jack about heims or the like.
thats whats fun about riding with all the baby jeeps. whenver they need "assistance" being drug off the trail its a fullsize that gets to yank them off the mountain. always fun
