Ok here is the problem:

ive got a 14"+ wide hump, about 6" tall, and about 18" of level floorboard on each side of the hump.I cannot find seats with narrow enough mounts to keep the seats from getting hit by the door.

Plus the bucket seats that ive got need lifted 4" up in the air.I used cross sections of square tubing to raise the seats up.On the drivers side i can only mount 3 legs due to the gas tank being in the way.Im currently driving it illegally since the seats are not fastened in very good.

Please help me with this problem.I would be forever greatful.

You will need to use the factory bucket-seat brackets to get an even mount for the seat base with that floor. With those brackets, however, you can adapt just about any seat; I bolted in a '76 Toyota Celica seat using 1/4" strap iron to mate the seat bolt pattern to the original FSJ pattern.

I was raised in Oklahoma and I've found that I can get just about any part for any type of car or truck there. Last fall I ordered some stuff from "Ray's Sooner Auto Salvage" in OKC. You should be able to call them and get the brackets you need for a very reasonable price. Their number is (405) 236-5666.

By the way, I used Escort seats in my red Wagoneer, and I'm looking for something appropriate for my other two trucks.

Good Luck,

Greg

I've seen that Ford Mustang seats (late 80's to mid 90's and even some Lincoln seats) work really well and am looking for a pair myself. You have to drill one or 2 holes for it to match up as I understand it, but it's a REAL close match.

Take a look at Procar Seats (http://www.procarbyscat.com), they are a popular seat for VW's and have brackets for over 3000 different vehicles.

The seat backs recline, and also fold forward, so they would be an excellent candidate for any FSJ, including 2dr Wagoneers and Cherokees, where the fold forward feature is absolutely necessary.

The selection of colors is not great (only three), but that's an easy work around.

Escort & mustang seats are almost an exact bolt in using Jeep pedistals. Taurus and Lincoln require cutting of the original mounting system and escort or mustang sliders.

Well the drivers side seat mounts are in ruins. Two of the mounts were cut off with an angle grinder(dont ask).I thought that the seats that I bought would fit.So all i really need is the drivers side mounts for an 86 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. There that should narrow it down.

GBarret-Thanks im gonna call him if i cant get the mounts rebuilt.

Billyrb-Sorry but im gonna try to go as cheap as possible(the shipping would be expensive).

Thanks yall!! ;)

Ya know, I think the Stock seats are more comfortable that most any car made. I can travel many-a-mile in those. Ford seats are about the worst.(in the new vechiles anyway).

What have you done to replace the rear seat to match the new front buckets?

I got my new seat mounts today. It took over 5hrs to find some, but i got them.Im using similar seat covers to make them match more correctly.Im gonna put some padding under the seat covers to fix the areas where the foam was missing, but that should do the job.Ill post some pics later.Thanx yall :D !!Once again youve saved my butt!! ;)
