I know this has been covered before but I need some specifics. What year did Ford make the 90+ AMP external regulated alternaters and does anyone know where to get these cheap without a core? Thanks guys. I know this might be tech but who on a regular basis runs an OBW on their daily?

not that i would do this (b/c it is wrong :D ) but when you get it. just pay the core charge and at a later date (like the next day or a few days later) just bring in any alt (cheap *** junkyard one) and return it as the core. they cant tell which one you are returning.
again i have never done this because it is wrong.

Poop in a bag and tell them it is your core. It should weigh about the same so they probably won't look.

when i bought minde i didnt have the core, brought it back in the box he opened the box to make sure it was actually an alternator, i had the pulley side up thats all he looked at, it could have been any thing, i dont think they are too saavy. especially at advance or autozone

ya its on the reciept but they cant tell what the one your turning in is. they just see an alt and take it.
it has always worked for me, for starters, alts, brake stuff, water pumps, ect. (er, um i mean if i were ever to do that, but ofcourse i would never do that b/c it is wrong)
but i kind of like andrews idea better.

Just go to the junkyard and grab one. The 130 amp 3G alt shoule be found on a 94 to ~2000 Mustang or Taurus, but it is internally regulated. I have a 3g I got for $20 from a '94 Mustang. Our '89 3.8l Taurus wagon has a pretty big alt that has an external regulator, I don't know how many amps but it's probably at least 90.
