I was looking at a CJ SOA recently and noticed that they had used a set of clamp on spring pads used in the racing industry. The advantage is that you can change your pinion angle at any time and you do not need a welder to put the new pads on when you are doing the conversion. They fit 3" diameter axle tubes and up to 2.5" wide springs. I have no idea whether they want to twist in place once installed. Has anybody else ever seen these or have any experience with them? I am posting the link below where they can be found if someone wants to see what they look like.

I wouldn't do this type of application for street use...If you have to lock up.. you may twist or rotate the axle leaving you with no steering...plus the housing perch is over 3.5" in diameter... it won't work.

I agree with you. They might be useful for finding the optimal pinion angle, but need to be welded in place for safety. I can't imagine what those racing guys do with them.

I used the Lou Fegers http://www.loufegersracing.com/ bolt on perches 3 yrs ago w/o problems. They were 3" in diameter and my D44s are 2.75" so I had to shim 1/4".
I did tac weld them after I found the angles that I wanted however.
