axle swap mostly done....

swapped wide trac axles for narrow trac in the 78 wag, no biggy both were q-trac offsets both pass.drop in front. Now the question,the front looks wider than the back is this an optical illusion or did I miss something here! I measured the rear axle and it was about 3" longer than the axle that came out,so why would the front have been so much wider than the back? Only thing I can figure is somehow I got a nt axle in rear and a wt axle in front. But if the rear is a nt then what the heck did I take out from under it? A CJ offset dana 44 ???
Oh well I'm too wore out to swap em again so it'll just have to run like it is.

Somebody back me up here but I'm sure the nt and wt are both about 3in wider in the front respectively. My 83 Cherokee is about 3" wider in the front but thats with wt axles.

That's the way they made them; turns better when the front track is wider than the rear.

Hey trickc, I did the same swap and yes the rear is narrower than the front.

whew! glad to hear a little re-assurance,when I got done and put the tires back on I looked at it and thought HOLY SHEEIT!! :eek: But if thats how its supposed to be then I feel a little better.
