I recently installed a new booster and master cylinder in my j4000. The booster is working, it gets hard to press when i shut off the engine, but when the engine is running there is no pedal pressure. I opened the cover to the MC and pressed the brake and fluid shot up. THe engine seems to idle down when i press the brake. I cant figure out whats goin on. Any help is appreciated
Sounds like a vacuum leak either in the new booster or the vac line going to it? Did you put a new check valve in it too?

Would a new check valve have come on the new booster, or is it somthing separate?
Man it's been awhile since I've bought a booster but I don't think they come with one? Just look at yours. If the booster is new it should be easy to tell if the valve is new too. It's the plastic nipple thingie the vac hose hooks to.

I have been doing a dual diaphram (sp?) conversion on my 79 J10. Mine came with the valve.
Also replaced my master cylinder and prop valve, no pressure to the rear at all.
Took it out for a test run yesterday, locked up all four 33/12.50s once and then the pedal went to the floor.
Blown rear drop line.
Good luck and hope you get it figured out.

Is the fluid supposed to shoot up in the master when you press the brake. Is there anything you need to do to the master before you install except bleed it? It is almost as if it wont allow the fluid to go in the lines.

Did you bleed the System, starting from the Pass Rear, Drivers Rear, Pass Front and ending with Drivers Front wheel? Sounds like air in the system. ;)
