Does anyone know if there is an electrical upgrade to this vacum daiphram?

Would trust electrical more so than vacum

Also, if not, how to test the vacum to see if it works right and does anyone know the correct hose routing?

You should have the bw1305 t/c or the bw1339 if you have low range. Both t/c are the same. The low range is a simple bolt on unit.Add the low range and the 1305 becomes a 1339.

Converting to a different engagement system is difficult at best.I don't know of any available after market system.Several members have made and used different systems and they sound good. The problem with a homemade system is making it dependable.

The vacuum diaphram is a good system. The problem I found with my vacuum diaphram was troubleshooting. It's just too hard to simply r&r the v/d without r&r the t/c.
My solution was to cut an access hole in the floorboard above the v/d.Now I can watch the v/c work(or not work)using the access covers. If necessary I can change it in less than an hour.

In answer to your ?,vacuum to the front nipple engages Edrive, should cause light in dash to come on.

some people did manual and other replacement..... check Frank Almaas' pages

I do not have the tools and other welding capabilities... but his system is excellent

It is not very difficult to convert a QT to manual shift. Do a search on this topic and you will find some good info and pics. Frank's system works well but is quite complicated. I think Porkchop converted his before he switched to the Darkside (dana 20).

For my application, I used a locking t-handle cable found at the local parts store and some other easy to buy parts. Do a search and read all of the posts thoroughly and then, if you still have questions, e-mail me. This is an easily a one weekend project if you do your homework beforehand.
