Engine idetification

My J10's 258 was replaced with one from an AMC car. Is there anyway to tell the year the engine was produced ie tag or stamp on the block? Thanks Dennis

The tech library is getting huge, but it doesn't include information on cars, just SJs.
At least, as near as I can tell...
