since i will be angling the shocks inward and foward i will need to fabricate a shock xmember. i dont even know what to start with material wise. any ideas of what i should use? i have only two ideas, 1.5" dom with plates on each end or square tubing with plates on each end. What do i use? pics would be very helpful if you found a or have fabbed up an xmember. Thanks.

I've seen square tubing work just fine.

Whatever is cheap. .120 wall is fine. DOM would be a waste. It's not like they are supporting the weight of your truck like a coilover does.

Older rigs have just a tube across the frame area.

It's nothing special, sq tube would be fine.
What I am finding is that in order to get longer shock travel, even with an SOA and 63" springs, I think I will have to cut into the floor and make the top mounts further up (only so much shock can fit in so much area).

That's what Nick did with his FJS. He'll probably tell you more about it.
