So I started stripping the Jeep today getting ready for the new build, and realized that my frame has a lot of dents in the bottom rails, and upon inspecting the hitch, notice it has totally trashed my rear frame area, the rails look like ocean waves. What do I do? I don't want a hitch after this build, but this frame has me worried.
then it gets worse. one whole side of the jeep has decided the body mounts should fail, and the frame rail is pushing on the floor on the passenger side, making a nice dent. should I go rubber again or try the urethane? I've heard the poly ones don't fit well?? I'll be cramming in a hockey puck too I think, I could use the clearance.
I wish this jeep didn't have sentimental value, or i'd just toss it and get a new one, but that's not happening.
And on a final note, the floor pan is rotted beyond all recognition. guess it's time to buy some 14ga diamond plate and get happy with the plasma cutter. I've decided to frame off the jeep and redo the floor in 14ga and the rockers and 1/4's are getting chopped and replaced with sliders mounted on the frame. once I get it chopped and all the body repaired, the entire firewall, bottom of body, wheelwells, interior floor, interior roof, and inside of 1/4 panels will be getting sprayed with line-x. That's gonna hurt the old wallet, but it'll be worth it.
anyone have any advice on the floor, frame, etc? I'm wondering if I shouldn't get a new frame that's not at all tweaked and box it and swap things on while the body is off getting sprayed?
