Just arrived home from "The Dimented Circle" Did a power drive from Taos, NM through Limon,CO and home to KY in 36 hours.

Red is somewhat repaired. Have brake issues and control problems still. Lots of dented and broken parts. What a shame it never even seen a trail. . Also good that is all the damage done as the "other" option is severely ugly.:(

Had a great time with everyone in Ouray, except Steve who tried to kill me.;) . "Less brow more truck" is RIGHT:cool:
What a thrill to ride in a the truck I've admired for so long on here.. :fsj:
I still went to Billings, MT for the Hillclimb.. That's gonna be a yearly event for me as well..

My house and landscaping has grown up to look like the Munsters' house.Spider webs everywhere inside.
I've already missed a week of work.
Need sleep for right now.
C y'all later...

I tried last weekend to post a message on here but was having trouble with the Motel's computer. I see now it never downloaded to here. Don't know what was going on with their puter that night. It's that Dimented Circle thing.
Thanks to Bud at Canyon Truck Parts I got some really nice replacement parts. From a guy who has owned and knows Full Size Jeeps as well being an excellent person to deal with.
Sammy(owner) at Angle Fire Collision, he is the guy who towed in Red from the wreck. He also took care of getting Red back together.Excellent guy as well.
Between those 2 guys mentioned above I had a long weekend to go play last weekend. So off to Billings,MT with the Pukon. Spent 3 days at the BMC clubs Motorcycle racetracks. The Great American Hillclimb is awesome. I took some short movies all I need to figure out is how to and where to download them. Puts our AMA Hillclimb Championship race here in Ohio to shame.

Dayum good to hear from you Tom! :D And that ole Red got home under it's own power! Rest up. Get us some pix when ya can. Sure glad you made it to Ouray and home safely too... And don't talk Steve's truck up too much. His head barely fits in the cab now... ;)

Glad to hear they got fixed to where you could get it home. When we got home Craig went out and made sure that his trailer was ready incase we had to come get for you so it could be stored in case there was more wrong than you thought. Has the other guys insurenece got back to you?

They are working with me good so far. Then again I haven't got a check yet, mainly because all my documnets and receipts for the J20 were back here "unattainable".
rying to find a correct size reliable tire to return home on was rediculous. By the way I will be selling off my 3 extremely good shape 31 x 10.50 x 16.5 BFG A/T tires and wheels and possibly the six, 5 slot 16.5 alum rims now. Red is now sporting 285x75 x 16's ( that's equal to 33x11x16) Dunlop Mud tires on white wagon steelies now .
Want to have a good laugh? Go to A-Z tires in Albq, NM and when the guy behind the counter tells you where to go look for a spare, tell him, " I'm not from around here". Glad I was part of their joke. Kinda skeered me at first. Once they realised I was a KY Hillbilly all was well then...Great guys.. They also get a major thumbs up for the help in the tire search.

I guess Steve could get a topless M 715 cab for his truck. No Brow and lots of head room.. Maybe some rear backup video assist cameras as well.
Need to buy any of your Fav grille's Flint? I found a stash(used) in my travels.

Seeing FSJ's everywhere I went out west was great.. Definitely not like around these here parts.I'm glad the Yukon didn't have a receiver hitch.

I got some killer comments on Red on the way back home. Had some baby Jeeper really eye it up at 11PM during a gas stop in a major downpour in Co.Springs.He said it was the most awesome Jeep he had ever seen. Poor thing looks pathetic to me. It never got buffed and waxed or the new interior installed before I left for Ouray. It does run like a champ though. Exhaust leak needs fixed now. Only got about 1000 miles on my Thorley headers.

Now I am hurt you made it down to Alb. and didn't even call LOL!! After we got home I discovered what may be one of the reasons my exhaust keeps leaking, the left side motor mount is starting to split!!!!!!

My time in Alb was short both times and using all the cell minutes(only place my phone worked) I had quickly. I did squeeze in a mini tour of the southern part of RT.66 just for kicks you might say. Ate at the Sonic and loaded up the rental pickup truck then back off to the Dimented Circle. I wanted to give J10 Joe a call as well. but my time was just not there.

Yeeha. I’m glad you made it back okay. The last time I saw you in the koa laundry you were wooing all those campground women and I thought you would be shacking up with one of them in one of those big motor homes for a few weeks. After I left there I stopped in Silverton and saw Glen and family again. He was headed back to the koa for an additional night and train ride the next day. It seems he was in the doghouse for getting back to the tent after 3:00am a couple nights before. We haven’t heard from him since.

Those trails can be quite scary sometimes especially for the passenger who’s on the drop off side. Next year you can ride with me up Dumass Pass. It’s something like 50k’ elevation and is located somewhere near the edge of the world up there. I hear the trail is only two feet narrower than my truck and since the clouds mask the trail and you can’t see it or where you’re going it makes it less scary that way. I’ll bring a white water raft for the trip back down.

I’m glad you and Red made it back to ky okay.http://www.dakotacom.net/~jeepster/tipshades.gif

Glad to hear you made it home and with a salvagable FSJ! Did you come through Missouri on I-70? You should have let us know somehow! Do you have any pics of the carnage?

Sounds like fun Steve. You'll have to strap me to the truck for that ride.

I stopped in Columbia last night around 11 pm for gas. I wish I had your number then, but I would of just fell asleep on you. I have pictures somewhere.

Has anyone ever been up near BearTooth Pass on MT and WY border? That is a cool drive, rated one of 10 best in U.S., and looks like some nice trail places as well. The road heading there had about 8 wagoneers parked in driveways along the way.

glad you made it home. hate to hear about Red gettin hit though. i can never figure out why it seems other vehicles are so jealous of FSJs that they feel the need to run into them.

Aaron and his dad came down last weekend and picked up the Honcho cab, hated to see it go but I had to make some room before Granny kills me. I have your door panels sittin in my living room. ill try to make it up your way as soon as i can. right now im on 1st shift until futher notice and i just aint used to going to bed a 10pm and getting up at 5:30am. i was tellin mom this morning that if i knew you were home we would have drove up today. mom want to go to some of those yard sales on 127.

Wreck damage. Front axles is unattached on driver side. Transfer case shattered, front shaft bent, shocks, brakelines all sheared off. Nice big dent on my rocker panels and a strange up and under dent pushing the bed into the lower cab.

My cure for Homesick blues. Good thing I had a ground floor room that I could back up to. Bought a new set of wheels and tires for the return trip home. This is in transit from Albq, NM back to the Dimented Circle , where the truck was left.

HOOT;

... Well did we have some excitement on the trip or not?
I still have horror visions of your J-20 jumping several feet in the air. I dang near laugh NOW when I think about the look on the riders face as he almost hit our pick up. The poor guy knew he was in for a heck of a crash.

... It was truly a miracle he did not die that day. I managed to dodge him as he was crossing the center stripe so he missed hitting us by about an inch. I was surprised he didn’t hit our rearview mirror.
... It was a wild trip for you but I know you got at least some enjoyment out of it. Thanks for the burgers at Clayton an glad we could share some ’gold’ at the KOA.

Have a good one and ;) “Jeep Jeep!” CUL.. Don S..

Thanks for letting me tag along through Northern NM with You and Doris. Next time maybe I can get beyond the Enchanted Circle.
I was surprised those bikes didn't hit you. I was relieved for a split second to see they missed you only to realise I was getting slammed. That was definitely the most perfect crash I ever seen executed. No road rash, no helmet, only a quarter size knot on the lower shin. I thought I killed him when we hit. Like my Mom said James Dean was already dead., That's why he didn't die from the collision. Yes that was his name. Great guy. It made it tough for me to enjoy those twisty roads after that the rest of the vacation. Can't get that moment out of my mind. I did go back through the crash seen a couple of times, didn't realise it was that pretty there until last week when I returned to the Dimented Circle.

I at least got to see Serious Johnson as well. I was just out cruising looking for parts and heading to Colorado Springs. I went flying by his house and thought , hey look Waggies. Cool house , hey wait I know that place. I slammed on the brakes and turn around and went back. Sure enough it was his place. Got to meet the Wife and the kitties and Puppies:eek: Next time I'm staying longer. Although all that horn blowing may get old. Then again that is a great "legend" you have there. I went to "Smoking Jakes" down the road on the way out and had some Killer BBQ served by his Smoking Babes. I need to get out more often..That was a great day of road cruising.

I see watching in horror as we scrambled over that down baby jeep in the crick was good enough motivation to get yours safely home

It was great meeting you and I didn't feel as bad being a weeklong shotgunner knowing I wasn't the only one. Good luck on the rebuild and get her next year :D
