Help! Anyone know how to turn off an engine that won't stop even in the off position?? As I write my friend's 78 J10 is idling outside....help!

Pull the coil wire.

Yup..that will do it. Be sure to unhook the battery afterwards. Don't want to run it down. smile.gif Have you been working on the truck recently? Or did this problem just start all by itself?

Hey guys...thanks for the quick reply! Okay...we had all these problems..see this post...

The two light blue wires from the neutral safety switch were totally burned up going about 10 inches from the switch. SO we replaced the solenoid relay switch and the neutral safety switch and spliced in new wires. Ran great...THEN we had the problems in the link above...which makes me think....those problems (ammeter) probably caused this new switch to break right? If we get another solenoid switch will we be set? Oh, and to get the engine to turn off, we hit the switch hard. Thanks, you guys are great!
