I'm sending my H1 rims to be recentered tomorrow and they said most people go with 3 5/8 back spacing. I'll be running the stock H1 36x12.5 tire but one day when I go to a 1 ton front I'll go bigger. Do yall think 3 5/8" is good?

There is no right answer. It all depends on what you want your track width to be. My Wagoneer was 93" wide and that was with 3.5" backspaced rims. When I built the buggy I wanted to be 83" wide so I got my Trailready's with 4.5" of backspacing and a 9" rim instead of 10". There are basically 3 factors that can be tweaked to get the tracks width you want. Wheel width, backspacing, and tire width. Decide what track width you want and what tires you are going to run, then you can figure out what backspacing you need.

stock was 3-5/8 on most of the '76 and up, but you can vary a little w/o issues.

Well 33s on my stock cherokee rims come close to rubbing the back springs, but I'll be running chevy running gear soon so that should give me more room. The rims are 8.25" wide.
These are quick kinda close measurements. I'll get someone to help me measure better tomorrow.
I ran outside and my current front axle from knuckle fork to fork is 45 1/2" My hd44 is 52"
My rear axle, back of drum to drum is 52" my 14 bolt is 55".
It sounds like it's about 4" wider on each side. So 3 5/8" sounds ok too me.
