Ok, the front is simple, because its only a single layer of sheet metal. But as for the rear, whats the best way to do it? Its 2 layers, so I ma not sure how to cut it and fold back the front layer or what ever.

Thanks.

BTW: I wanna get rid of at least 1"

I trimmed off the whole flare on mine. there are some pics and a little write up on my website in the projects area under completed ones. I used putty, metal inserts, and bolts to put the rear back together. It ain't pretty at all, but it is solid.

I started out only wanting to cut out an inch or so, maybe two. But when I got started, I found a bit more cancer in the rear than I expected and just went for the whole sheebang. I still ended up doing some patching though.

Any other suggestions from people who have only trimmed 1" or so?

I HAVE A 72 & I PINSTRIPE CARS SO I USED SOME 1/8 TAPE TO MAKE MY LINE IT BENDS GOOD AND YOU CAN SEE IF YOU LIKE THE PATTERN OR KEEP PERFECTING IT.PEPBOYS SHOULD HAVE SOME THAT WILL WORK OR PAINTERS 1/8 TAPE NOT AS FLEXIBLE THOUGH.I USED MY OLD JIGSAW WITH CHEAP BLADES STARTED AT BOTTOM REAR ITS THINNER IN THE BACK.JUST GO SLOW YOU WILL GET A CLEAN CUT AND FAIRLY EASY.THEN I ALSO PUT BODY SIDEMOULDINGS AND WHEEL LIP MOULDINGS ON. 7YRS NOW ME AND WIFE FOR ALL DEALERS AND MUCH MORE THINGS SO I PUT 1/2 WHEEL LIP FRONT AND BACK FOR LOOKS AND SAFETY FROM LITTLE HANDS.IT ALSO HAS A 1/8 LIP THAT TUCKS UNDERNEATH ALONG THE CUT.THE ONLY OTHER THING IS TO SEAL THE TWO SHEETS TOGETHER IN YOUR PICS IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR IN COLD CLIMATE SO IT WILL BE EASIER FOR YOU/TAPE FROM BOTTOM AND REMOVE INSIDE PANELS SHOOT SOME FOAM INSULATION FROM A CAN HOME DEPOT.HOPE THIS HELPS
