Well, I finally decided to start buying some parts that I need to start fixing-up the Glad(spring will be here before we know it) http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif
I found some fenders in the RayBuck catalog that list a front fender with 5"flares with the lamp hole but it says 1975-1991 http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/frown.gif Anybody know if these are the same fenders I need for my 71 Glad??? They should be the same fender shouldn't they?? If these are not the ones I need or they dont fit, does anybody know where I may be able to find some?? Also, I have been toying with the idea of having a 1-piece tilt front end. This shouldn't be too hard to fab and was wondering what everyones input is on this??

Also, is 20 guage sheet metal heavy enough for replacing my floor boards?? Found some 36 X 30 sheets in the catalog for $12.50

I am not to sure about the fenders, but I am very curious about the one piece tilt front. I have toyed with that idea for some time but have never got to doing it. How do you plan to fab it? Do you have any drawings?

Nope, no drawings, figured with a lil head scratchin' and @ss pickin' I could figure something out. Been toying with the idea for some time now. Think the biggest problem will be altering the route of the wiring and hoses and fabbing some hinges. You got any ideas that you care to share? http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey guys, for all the people who are making or planning on making custom FSJ parts and accessories you guys should open up a online FSJ supply store!!! (In a creepy whisper) "If you build it they will come" http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I put a few scibbles on paper awhile ago, I will have to see if I can find them.

The wiring is the easiest part of all to me. The hardest part I think is the part about attaching the hinges. Also what to do with the bumper. I have the latch part and the wiring figured out, I just need help with the rest.

I am going to fab some tube bumpers for the Glad, so I figured that if I made the bumper horns a lil longer to help clear the front-end when tilted that this will work. Only thing is I won't be able to have a Grille Guard but don't wanna obstruct the view of that Rhino anyway http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif As far as the hinges go, I thought maybe heavy duty hinges welded just above the frame horns will support the front end when in the open position. thought I would use some type of gas strut(like the kind in hatchbacks) to help support it in the open position. Been toying with the idea of hydraulics also http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif What ya think??

One other thing that I must figure out is where to have the fender come off the body at the rear of the fender. I too am going to make tube bumpers, but I want the brush guard, that is what I am trying to figure out. Yeah I thought of that too. I figure most of the weight will be on the bumper. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/cool.gif I just figured out the bumper, it just came to me. I will email you with all of the ideas. Or better yet I can call you. Email your phone number to me if you want and I will give you a call.
