ok i want to change my gas tank out from the huge frame rail mount gas tank and i would like to go with like a blazer rear mount or bronco gas tank that mounts above the rear axle to get the gas tank up and out of the way.... i really don't want to run a fuel cell but if i was to run a fuel cell what kind would be a safe bet i'm trying to way out all my options what have you used and what will and will not work

we are contemplating a fuel cell in the ole ladies wag. what are you doing with your wag "offroad only or DD, or kinda both"? we have a trail ready wag so the back is cut off. we are going to put the cell in the back.

Try a search under the general section and here and there are lots of threads that will pull up discussing this. You might list what vehicle you are trying to fit it to also and if you have a body lift as that will make a difference what will go in there.

I have not cut the roof on my '86 but I went ahead and bought a fuel cell anyway. It was a plastic 16 gallon Summit brand. I mounted it in the spare tire location and it tucked up in the frame rails nicely but I ended up returning it to Summit for a refund. The fill cap was one of the top mount screw-types and mounting the cell above the frame rails meant that the fill hole was too close to the cargo area sheetmetal and did not have enough room to fit one of their elbowed fill-hose adapters. This probably would have worked with at least a 2" body lift. So now I'm back at the drawing board but I'm probably going to go with an XJ or S10 tank, whichever I can get my hands on first. Oh yeah, and I was going to build a BAD@$$ (BAD@$$)skid plate to protect the fuel cell.

I found a Fuel Safe name brand fuel safe at a swap meet here in conroe and its right at 22 gallons with some straps from a k5 it tucked nicely in the spare tire location with just a hole saw in the floor to fit the filler hole just roll the back window down to fill er up. Good Luck...................

I'm going to use a 25 gallon tank from a full size Bronco. As soon as I can find a skid plate for it, that is. I'm also going to be doing a dual tank setup with an electric valve to switch between the two. Having 40+ gallons of capacity will make road trips that much easier. :D

i have a 25+ gallon from a old cargo truck. ill have to measure it to see just how much it will hold but it will fit perfectly between the wheel wells in the cargo area.
