Here's an easy one for the masses:
Does location of an in-line fuel filter make a difference? i.e.: my final fuel filter is now located after the mechanical pump, before the carb, and rests on the intake manifold. I am worried about the heat of the area and was wondering if locating the filter before the pump, in a cooler location, is feasable?
Ideas, thoughts, suggestions?
thanks,
Mike

mine is between the pump and carb, but I have a steel line up until the filter so the filter is suspended off the intake manifild. You might try that if you wanted to keep it there. But I would think that you could put one between the tank and pump without much problem if you wanted.

You could put several filters in the fuel line, prior to the pump and 2 more between the pump and carb. I think that would be a little overkill but it can be done. However as to your question of the filter lying near the intake, I would think the intake would not get hot enough to cause a problem. If you are worried about the heat, do as suggested and get it above the intake, or place some sort of heat/fire retardant material between the filter and intake. Good Luck

I was thinking about doing that once I get my edelbrock carb/intake...would most likely put it close to the carb as I could....hopefully that would work the best?!?

Well, the OEM set-up has it right next to the intake and it's never caused me any greif.

Is the stock filter location to place the fuel return line near the carb? Just a guess...
