Did J-10's ever come with Front HD Dana 44's with a 4:10 gear ratio??? If so what years..

Yup and it's not that big a deal.
The tubes are a bit thicker and it has 8 lugs, everything else is the same.
As far as the 4.10's go, that was available, not sure what years and they probably got less common after the late 70's.
Mine came from a 74 J20 with 4.10's in it.

this is tru but a bit more is different, not that it makes a great deal of difference. the spindles are larger and take different bearings than the regular 44 and ummmmmmmmmmmmmm i think thats it. i believe those are the only reasons its a HD 44 because the larger spindle,bearings and thicker tube allow it to handle a larger gross weight

There are large and small spindles on the reg D44, later D44 went to the large spindles, making them the same as the HD44, swapped them out many times.

really? i did not know this i tried to swap a 76 onto a 78 HD and it didnt work. do u know what year the regular 44's changed?

I believe it needs to be late 79 and up, 78 and down as far as I know had the small diameter spindles on the D44.
