got my new dana 70 yesterday!:D  A short road trip to Ft. Collins and Boulder... and let me tell you, the D70 wasn't the only nice rear end I saw that day. I love college towns... who likes short shorts? I do! :D :D :D :D

specs:
4.10 gears, open diff
35 spline shafts, full-floater (stud type)
70" WMS-to-WMS, Dodge box van i'm told...
4" tubes... yes 4"... they are massive!
shaved housing lip, needs some grinder cleanup, but not a bad job.
complete, drum to drum, 8-lug

This thing is heavier than I imagined, it took 4 of us to move it. 400+ lbs easy. Made a nice bruise on my arm when the diff hit me in the arm during loading. :banghead:

But it was worth it... because not only is it beefy... IT WAS FREE! :drivin: :fsj:

You don't have to tell me... that is why I live here. Wouldn't have it any other way! :D

Congrats on the D70...

:worthless:

I WANNA SEE SOME REAR ENDS!

anyone know if I can use the disc conversion off my old D60? both are dodge models...

I looked at using a set of D60 disc brackets on my Dana 70 (Dodge) and found the mounting flange on the axle tube to be to far off center of the disc's. Drums on the D70 are HUGE and push the backing plates further back than the D70. I figured I could have welded the brackets on though, but scrapped the project before I got any further into it
