i am looking for a somewhat easy swap to go from my 2 D44'd to at least 1 tons. I am not looking to go to cheap but would like to save some money. I have heard a lot about mogs and rockwells but would like to keep the chero street legal for camping trips.
It is a 1977 chero with a 360/th400/QT right now it is a N/T but i have already put W/T front fenders on and will be going Riverbeast on the back soon.
If you guys could just offer me some suggestions on what to get and the going rates i would much appericate it.

the super easiest way to go for your offset rear pumpkin is get the axles out from under a j-20 its a dana 60 in the rear and a HD44 up front.
unless you want a 60 for the front you will still be stuck with the j-20 rear axle because it is offset like your dana 44, the only other way that i know of to get a centered diff dana 60 is to relocate the gas tank

Thats what i did. Found a tank out of an xj and it fits perfectly between the frame rails. Then i put a centered 60 in the back. Even with the offset drive line angle i get very little vibrations.

Here ya go. It has ended, but maybe he will be more realistic about the price.

OMG!
Mike, Tom, Ralph...
Is that not the same POS that was on Ebay about 2 years ago, just north of Kingman?
I swear the pic's are the same, the description is (uh, how to be nice) slightly better written?
If I'm wrong so be it, and I'll be happy to apologize if it's a member here, but I have drug stuff home that nice for virtually nothing (not free, I stopped doing those free POS things, there is something there, but it's not $900).

Start off by telling us what size tires you are wanting to run. That will help us determine advice for axles. Just to get you started, we had a post on axle strength. In our opinion:

Look at the last page for final rankings.
Just to give you an idea about Mogs:

The axles are pretty expensive, but I think they can handle pretty large tires. Not sure on how large, but more than 1 tons can handle.
