J Truck Rear Glass

Does anyone know if there is any difference between a '78 and '79 rear glass in the J trucks. I have a lead on a sliding rear window but the guy says the part number is only for up to '78?

Well, As far as i know, glass is glass is glass. I just put in a sliding window in my '78 using a used seal off of a '74 or '75. I don't know what year the window was from, but all of it was a perfect fit. It isn't easy to work it in, but it goes in easier with several helpers. Try to use the largest rope or string you can fit in the seal opening and make sure to use so soap or something as a lubricant. Good luck. I would buy the window and try it. Also, don't lock the lock strip fully until the seal is in the opening and around the window. Let me know if you need more details on the install, or if you have trouble finding the seal. If you are careful you can remove the old seal without damaging it.
