i pulled the carb off the cheif today for a rebuild and broke what i think is a heat tube for the choke. facing the truck, it is a metal line on the left side of the engine coming from the intake to the carb. it snapped off flush with with the maifold, old and rusty just fell to bits. how do i go about fixing this one? is this part easy to come by? can i find this at the parts store or do i have to go to the dealer?

This may be a boneyard only item. You probably can get one from J+W Jeep in Sacramento California (800-924-9732). They ship used Jeep + Willys parts all over the country. You can probably also convert to an electric choke. I have seen these kits in the help section of auto parts stores. You could also plug the hole in the manifold and just let the choke warm up by engine-bay heat. You would nead to set the choke adjustment back about two steps. This would work fine in So. Cal. May not work at all in a cold climate.

i had th same problem on my jeep the tubes were rusted off when i bought it. I put on a help brand manual choke. Easy fix at only $12. Works good up here in the cold.

When I rebuilt my carb I did the same as Cowboy and used a Help brand manual choke kit worked great plus it simplified things which is always good. The other option is to use some tube and bend up some new ones.
