Okay it is getting time for a roll cage in my wag, now I know many of you have done this. What is the best tubing bender for the money. I have found a few on the net but just exploring all my options. Obviously I am on a limited budget. Thanks in advance:D

I like this website....lots of neat stuff
edit: sorry, i posted the wrong one on my first try
I happen to have access to a tubing bender almost exactly like the one posted above. It only has a die for 1.75" tubing but that's a good diameter for roll cages.
Let me talk to my friend and see if he minds setting up a weekend where we can build you a good roll cage.
If you only have to spend money on the tube, that should help your budget.

Michael, I have an industrial hydraulic tubing bender with all the size dies up to 4" I think, etc. It is electric powered and bends thick stuff like nothing. Same machine Glenntx used for his full cage in his choptop. You can borrow it if you wish but it is one heavy MF and hard to move around and transport. It probably wieghs 300lbs. Has a steel work table. It has a foot pedal for the bender and you have both hands free to work your pipe.
Let me know if you want to borrow it. If I have to load that heavy MF and bring it up there though, you'll owe me one bottle of a nice red wine.

makes me want to move to texas....
but as an answer to the question, even if the question is now moot...
you should get the best one you can possibly afford... anything less will only aggravate you... unless you like sand bending with the harbor-freight type, and they still arent real tubing dies..
so, get the best you can, though it sounds like you have many options now..

not if you make the pipe dies into tube dies. :D
I've asked a few people about detailing that process and always get the answer, "just go buy a real tubing bender!" Would you care to enlighten those who wish to polish the HF turd? :D

id say get a real tube bender :D :D i use my jd2 for most bending. the tube dies for the kinker works *****en for thicker tube, but for .120 or less it does distort the bends somewhat.
but for thicker stuff (the pic is 1.5 .25 wall) it works awesome.
but sadly i did not make the dies, my machinist friend made them. but you basically just take a pipe die and machine the die to the proper tube dia. don’t know how he did it but it works great.
he made it after we bent my jd2 trying to bend a piece of 2" .25 wall w/ a 20' cheater pipe.

To be honest I thought I joined the year before????? Did not know I joined on Sept 11th 2001, I am sure I had worse things to pay attention too at that time.
