The pump sits so high on the 360. Highest point of my motor is the steering cap. Anyway, need lower it cause I need to mount my external res. higher than the pump itself. And it is supposed to be less than 16" away for optimal performance. I have looked for places, but anywhere I mount it, it would stick higher than my tubing. So moving the pump down would really help. Just wondering if some newer 360's had it lower on the side. My 360 is a 75-78 ish.

I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with, especially if it's something that might work with the GM (two return line, remote reservoir) pumps. The pumps are the same, and the one reservoir retaining bolt on the back side swaps out for a stud like on the back of the Jeep pump so all the mounting points would be the same only the bracket towards the engine block would need to clear return lines (and that appears to be a major issue since the return lines will interfere with the current AMC setup using the lift bracket as a pivot point and the return lines are in the almost same location as the lift bracket's pivot point).

Funny thing is i managed to move my alt to the top to keep it ou of water. now I need to lower the pump. Guess I will come up with something. or Ill just put a couple of tubed brackets across the engine, with hinges, where I can mount my res. and protect engine in a roll.

I wonder if you could mount it lower using the 258 brackets?

I just thought og something. Mount it to the inside of the hood with quick realease brakets(for filling) and hook up one of those coil hoses so when you open your hood the line stretches out

Any progress on the relocation attempt?

might just be me, but i'd rather move the alt than the ps pump. sure the ps pump is ugly up there, but why would one design an alt to be so close to mud and water?

I have a P/S pump driven snow plow, this is where I mounted it, the brackets are pretty crude, but it works.

You located it down at the smog pump location? Got some pics of the brackets, were they entirely fabbed or did you modify some other brackets to work?
Being able to mount the pump down there is going to greatly facilitate running a remote power steering resevoir for the hydroboost where you don't have to lift the body to locate the resevoir high enough.

it was a little of both, don't know when I'll get pics, wife is having a baby tomorrow, so it's going to be a busy week.

I ended up not doing it. Allready spent too much on new belts and time invested. I ended up getting a sealed pump from PSC, and it sits lower anyway. Put my remote res next to it. Dennis
