I am getting my new engine ready and want to go ahaead and put in a new timing chain while the engine is out... should I do just the chain or the whole "kit". Also, where can I get a good quality chain and a good water pump. Pepboys, autozone ok? Or should I order somewhere? Not in a huge hurry but would like to get started.

You need to swap the chain and gears as a set, and your best price for a decent set will be from Summit Racing www.summitracing.com (http://www.summitracing.com) for about $42 for a double roller set.

Decent water pumps can be had at just about and decent parts store.

Drivir8, make sure that when you get the new gears, you inspect the oil-passage hole in the gear (it's about the size of a pencil diameter). Many of the castings block that hole, and it has to be drilled / filed out, so that oil will pass through the engine properly. Search the Gen. Tech forum and you can find more info.

Thanks Billy... I read that thread a while back but thanks for reminding me! I think that little thing gave a bunch of the guys a LOT of problems!
