im contemplating repairing the rotted out frame on my 88 wag. it needs to be done before i lose the r/r spring mount. the right side part of the frame is rotted out between the rear x-members. the left side still looks to be hanging in there. i am thinking about using a rear x-member that came from my 83 when i harvested the bumper. i have used angle bar before to fix the left frame rail along the gas tank. to get the angle to form to the frame kick. i just cut slices out so i was just bending flats. then i drilled holes and bolted the flat to the frame web to form the angle bar. unbolted and welded up the slice. now im going to be working with channel bar. can i use the same method to form the web w/o weakening it too much? or should i ditch the channel bar and make up the section using angle top and bottom and flat stock for the web? or what? hoping to generate some ideas here. TIA
