I am considering various lifting alternatives for my '84 GW, but before I do so I wanted to get familiar with NJ Laws concerning lifted or "High Rise" Vehicles using their term.
I know that there are two special inspection stations for this but i wanted to find out when a vehicle meets the requirements or meets the definition of a "High Rise" or lifted vehicle.
Any experience from my fellow NJ FSJ owners would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I am not from NJ, but the latest issue of Petersen's has all the lift laws by state. Here is what is says for Jersey:
"You can raise the suspension only 4 inches above stock height. Go any higher and your truck becomes classified as a 'High rise' and it must undergo a stability test at a state facility."
Hope this helps you in some way.

hi wingo
im also from nj.the absolute highest you can go with your rig including tires would be 30 inches to the doorsill.your actually allowed 9 inches with a 1 in tolerance.the max tire size is 38 in but if you talk to the right guy they will let you run39.5s.once you lift it 4 inches or beyond it will have to go for a stability test.there is one your way in ancora.its really pretty easy.i think it was really designed for smaller vehicles with big lifts.are you a member of the nj fourwheelers?check out njfourwheelers.com there is a meeting coming up.
