Ok my QT is about to take a dump and I dont really wanna rebuilt it or put any time or money into it. Im just wondering what other (if any) transfer cases are an "easey swap"? or it least what other cases have the same front and back offsets

There is no easy swap t-case for a QT case. But if you want to keep the off set then a D18 will be the one. To swap in this case or the D20 you will need a TH400/D20 adapter. They can be bought new from Novak or Advance, or you can use the factory one lke I have. Then you will need to get ahold of a TH400 short tial shaft. To swap this in you will need to tear down the tranny since this is the last part to come out. Then to make the case stronger and be able to run with the factory adapter you will need to either find a D18 with a 4" bore or swap al1 the guts from a 3" bore D18 into a D20 case. This is of coause just a quick run down :D , if you do a search and look in the archives you will see many post on this and it can help you out.

You could also find a Chevy Turbo 400 with either a NP205, NP203, NP208, etc. and rebuild your AMC case with the Chevy shaft and adapter. With the exception of the 400/NP205, these are very easy and cheap to find. Around here, you could probably scrounge one up for $200-300 complete. If you took both trannys to a tranny shop around here for a bench rebuild, add about $250. So for around $500 you would have a new tranny and better tcase.

Or, you could find a 80's AMC 727 transmission and bolt either a Dodge NP205, Dodge NP208, or a
Jeep Dana 300 to it.

You could also go with a number of different granny 4 speeds and various tcases if you wanted to go that route.

The rear axle offset might cause a problem with the straight through tcase, but I have seen it done with no problems. Jeep M715s ran centered diffs but an offset NP200 with a lot of angle on it. Centered rear Axles are very cheap around here so that might be an option.

Bottom line, there is no cheap or easy way to swap out your qtrac.
