interesting idea. what motor are you planning on using? (I am not familiar with Ford stuff) I have often thought of dropping a VORTEC 383 w/a 4L80E transmission into my '85 GW (multi-port fuel injection, 415ft/lbs torque, four speed w/ O/D . . . sounds good to me) Have you looked at Advanced Adapters to see if they have generic mounts and stuff available? I'M CHECKING ADVANCE ADAPTERS NOW. I'M REBUILDING THE ORIGINAL 360 BUT HAVE A FORD 351W AND CHEVY 350 AVIALABLE. I FOUND OUT THAT THE AMC 360/401 HAVE HIGHER NICKEL/TIN CONTENT THEN ANY OF THE BIG THREE ENGINES
WICH SOULD RESULT IN BETTER WEAR AND DURABILITY. smile.gif

I've been looking at this pretty hard the last couple of weeks (my rear main seal is pouring out oil at the rate of a quart every two weeks). If your going to keep the AMC I would keep the TF 727, they have a perfromance rebuild kit for 129.00 at summit (they also have better torque converters 320.00), or you can direct swap (I think) to the TF 999 out of a '90 or '91 (four speed) and get the same higher performance stuff for it. I haven't found a HD rebuild kit for my NP 229 but everyone on these boards sing the praises of the NP 208/219/228/229 for their tuffness, or Advance Adapters has adapters to the Dana 18/20/300 transfer cases (but why when yours is already bolted in?). Both Comp Cams and Edelbrock offer performance head/cam kits 400+ft/lbs torque! combined with the speed-pro flat top pistons and forged rods. That's my current train of thought. The bummer? No Tuned Port Injection that I've been able to find. Anyways, my .02 (and yes, you have change coming)

THE TRANS IN THE JEEP IS FINE I HAVE A NP219
FULL TIME QUADRATRACK WICH I WANTED T0 REPLACE WITH A COMANDTRAC TRANSFER CASE .
RESENTLY I FOUND THIS FORD OVERDRIVE AUTOTRANS & BORGWARNER TRANFERCASE AVAILABLE FOR A GOOD PRICE IT WAS IN AN 89 FULL SIZE BRONCO WITH A 351W MOTOR. IF IT IS A REASONABLE CONVERSION I WILL GET IT. THIS WILL TAKE CARE OF MY MAIN PLANS FOR MY WAGONEER,SWITCHABLE 4WEEL DR. & OVERDRIVE AUTOTRANS.

dive30, I saw your post regarding no tuned port for AMC motor. There is a guy on here, TPIGuy I think, that is making TPI setups for AMC motors. just an FYI.

T&J's Jeep, what part of CA are you in? Northern CA here.

Eric, thanks, I'll look into getting a hold of himv . . that would be sweet!

T&Js, I was just thinking that pretty much anything from advance adapters was $400-$500. Just thought you might be able to get what you wanted without the extra expense (especially if you have to get custom driveshafts etc.)
